The Benefits of Essential Oils

I told you there was so much new this month! I’m dropping my first ever essential oil pack and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on one because they’re so good! Below, I outline the benefits of essential oils and all of the scents I am releasing in this pack.

Peppermint Essential Oil

A top note with a strong aroma, Peppermint has a sharp, penetrating scent based on its high menthol content. The minty sweetness of the vapor makes it one of the most popular essential oils.

Benefits

How to Use

  1. Combine in a carrier oil to soothe sore muscles

  2. Apply to temples for headache relief

  3. Mix with oil and massage belly for stomach relief

Blends Well With

  • Basil essential oil: Basil has a sweet, spicy, fresh scent with a faint balsamic woody back note and a lasting sweetness that makes for a strong top note

  • Bergamont essential oil: The aroma is like citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy floral quality, and is reminiscent of Neroli, giving a middle note of medium strength

  • Cajeput essential oil: A fresh, camphorous aroma resembling the combined fragrances of camphor, rosemary, and cardamom, with a slightly fruity note; a middle note with a medium strength aroma

  • Cedarwood essential oil: A middle note of woody, slightly sweet/smoky aroma

  • Eucalyptus essential oil: Energizes and creates an uplifting atmosphere

  • Lemon essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, it has a strong bright lemony scent

  • Lime essential oil: A top note with a medium aroma, this particular Lime has a dryer camphoraceous note because of the chemical constituents in younger limes

  • Mandarin essential oil: A top note with a light aroma, Mandarin has an intense, fresh scent characteristic of sweet oranges

  • Marjoram essential oil: A middle note with a medium aroma, it has a warm and spicy aroma, with a note like a nutmeg

  • Niaouli essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Niaouli essential oil has a sweet, fresh, camphoraceous smell

  • Pine essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, Pine organic essential oil has a fresh forest smell

  • Rosemary essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, Rosemary has a fresh, strong, woody, & herbal scent

  • Spearmint essential oil: A top note with a medium aroma, Spearmint has a fresh minty smell reminiscent of Peppermint that is sweeter, and not so sharp

  • Thyme essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, Thyme has a woody, medicinal scent described as spicy and green

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus has many applications. When used in a carrier oil, this essential oil can purify skin by removing dirt, warm, tone, refresh skin, and promote a sense of well-being. It can also be diffused to reap its benefits through scent. When diffused, Eucalyptus energizes and creates an uplifting atmosphere. Traditionally, some varieties of Eucalyptus have even been used in mosquito repellent sprays, while others continue to be used to relax with massages and provide a soothing feeling.

How to Use

  1. Add 2 drops to a bowl of hot water, place towel over your head to hold in moisture, and breathe in the vapors

Blends Well With

  • Lemon essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, it has a strong bright lemony scent

  • Myrtle essential oil: Myrtle has a sweet, fresh, herbaceous, and camphorous scent, middle note, medium aroma

  • Frankincense essential oil: A base note with a medium aroma, warm and spicy, woody

  • Spearmint essential oil: A top note with a medium aroma, Spearmint has a fresh minty smell reminiscent of Peppermint that is sweeter, and not so sharp

  • Tea tree essential oil: Tea Tree has a fresh, slightly medicinal scent with woody characteristics, camphoraceous notes, middle note, medium aroma

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils being used in aromatherapy today. Used throughout history, Lavender has made its mark in the cosmetics, medicinal, and perfumery industries.

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Aids in overall well-being

How to Use

  1. Use three to four drops in your body lotion

  2. Add a few drops to your diffuser

  3. Use three or more drops in your bath water for a relaxing & healing experience

  4. Use in your DIY sugar scrubs to add a level of sophistication and scent

Blends Well With

  • Bay essential oil: Bay has a spicy bay leaf scent with a strong top note

  • Bergamont essential oil: The aroma is like citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy floral quality, and is reminiscent of Neroli, giving a middle note of medium strength

  • Chamomile essential oil: A strong middle note, Roman Chamomile has a fragrance like apples and sweet straw, and is considered the finest smelling of all chamomiles

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Orange is derived from an evergreen tree. It is smaller than the bitter orange tree, and less hardy with fewer or no spines. The fruit itself has a sweet pulp with no bitter membrane. It is believed that sweet orange was brought to Europe by the Arabs in the First century along with the bitter orange.

  1. Add 2 drops to a diffuser to freshen a room and/or boost your mood and well being

  • Bergamont essential oil: The aroma is like citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy floral quality, and is reminiscent of Neroli, giving a middle note of medium strength

  • Lemon essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, it has a strong bright lemony scent

  • Clary sage essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Clary Sage essential oil has a herbaceous with a sweet, floral aroma

  • Myrrh essential oil: A middle note with a medium aroma, Myrrh essential oil has a warm, rich, spicy balsamic odor

  • Nutmeg essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Nutmeg’s scent is soft, spicy, and woody with a slightly musky note

  • Cinnamon bark essential oil: A middle note of strong aroma, it has a warm, spicy scent between that of clove and cinnamon, with sharper notes

  • Clove bud essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Clove Bud essential oil smells like the actual spice

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon oil has been historically recognized as a cleanser, and Lemons themselves reached the height of fame when the British Navy began using citrus fruits to counteract the effects of scurvy. A top note with a strong aroma, it has a strong, bright lemony scent.

How to Use

  1. Add a few drops to the laundry for a fresh scent

  2. Mix with lotion for an energizing pick me up

  3. Add a few drops to vinegar & water for a refreshing and effective cleansing solution

  4. Add one drop to a preferred carrier oil for skin benefits

Tea Tree Essential Oil

As Essential Oils have become more accepted by the public, the use of Tea Tree Oil has increased significantly. This is readily seen in the commercial products now using Tea Tree, although this grade is more potent and can be used for various other applications.

  • Soothes itching & healing of insect bites

  • Can reduce dandruff on the scalp

  • Can aide in the healing of acne

How to Use

  1. Add 15 drops to a 50/50 mix of witch hazel and water for repellent

  2. Add 3 drops to shampoo to reduce dandruff

  3. Mix 1 part oil to 9 parts water to aide in healing acne

  • Cinnamon bark essential oil: A middle note of strong aroma, it has a warm, spicy scent between that of clove and cinnamon, with sharper notes

  • Clary sage essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Clary Sage essential oil has a herbaceous with a sweet, floral aroma

  • Clove bud essential oil: A middle note of medium aroma, Clove Bud essential oil smells like the actual spice 

  • Geranium essential oil: A middle note with a strong aroma, this Geranium has a scent that is both sweet and herbaceous, carrying some subtle notes similar to Rose

  • Lavender essential oil: A top note of strong aroma, Lavender has a rich floral scent that is somewhat fruitier, mellower and less camphoraceous

  • Lemon essential oil: A top note with a strong aroma, it has a strong bright lemony scent

  • Myrrh essential oil: A middle note with a medium aroma, Myrrh essential oil has a warm, rich, spicy balsamic odor
